Antonio Stradivari (violin) Théonville – 1698 ca.

This instrument still bears an original label dated 1698 and it is named after Mr. Guglielmo Théonville of Lugano, Switzerland. In their certificate, the Hill Brothers recorded the violin as ‘a thoroughly characteristic example of the period 1697–1702.’ Nevertheless, a manufacturing date of 1698 is generally assumed.
